It is our pleasure to announce Mark Erlichman as the new Deputy Director for Vocational Rehabilitation Employment Division (VRED), effective June 1, 2019.
In the 25 years that Mark has been with DOR, he has demonstrated his belief in the talent and potential of individuals with disabilities. His passion for this work began when he was first an aide in Special Education and continues today more than ever.
Mark has been an Assistant Deputy Director in both VRED and Vocational Rehabilitation Policy & Resources Division (VRPRD), the District Administrator of the Northern Sierra District, the Regional Program Manager for the North/Central Employment Program Services Division, a Rehabilitation Supervisor and a Rehabilitation Counselor. His extensive field experience will be invaluable in leading the Division into the next iteration of vocational rehabilitation.
With more than 17 years of work in direct service to the public and in his additional years in management, Mark has directly or indirectly served and influenced services in support of thousands of consumers. As an individual who immigrated to the United States and whose first language was not English, Mark recognizes that the needs of individuals that California serves are different, that staff must be culturally competent, and that state services must be human-centered and adaptable.
Mark’s ability to relate to the consumers we serve, the VRED staff to whom he will provide leadership, and his experience on the Executive Leadership Team for many years, will enhance the Department’s efforts as we continue to serve individuals with disabilities in the State of California.
Please join us in congratulating Mark on his appointment as our new Deputy Director for VRED.
